Ultra Wales 50
Ultra Wales 50 is a 51 miles trail and mountain race held on Saturday 20 June 2026 from the Coed-y-Brenin area in Southern Snowdonia. The course records a total ascent of 2898m and passes notable features including Cadair Idris (Penygader), Rhinog Fach and the Barmouth estuary.
The field is limited to 500 places and the event has an overall cut off of 20 hours. The route is supported by six checkpoints that provide drinks, sandwiches, fruit and snacks, vegetarian and vegan options, and medical or first aid cover. Checkpoints have strictly enforced cut-off times; entrants must visit all checkpoints and have their details recorded to continue.
Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and will be checked at registration and on course. Required items include a hardcopy map, compass, waterproof coat with sealed seams, whistle, long-sleeve base layer in a drybag, minimum 1 litre water capacity, fully charged mobile phone, survival/foil blanket, primary and secondary lights, and the provided GPS tracker. GPX files and live online GPS tracking are available via the event tracker.
Entrants must be at least 20 years old, in good health and have previously completed a marathon-distance organised event. No pacers or support runners are permitted. There are specific parking and supporter restrictions at some checkpoints, no drop bags are allowed, and parking at the venue and checkpoints is chargeable. Finishers receive tiered medals by finishing position and prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
