Ultra Wales 50 (GB Ultras) : Coed-y-Brenin, 19 June 2027
The Ultra Wales 50 is a 51 mile mountain and trail race based at Coed-y-Brenin Visitor Centre in Southern Snowdonia. The route covers approximately 51 miles with about 2898 m of ascent and passes notable features such as Cadair Idris (893 m), Dolgellau, the Barmouth estuary and the Coed-y-Brenin forest. The event has a 20 hour overall cut-off and a maximum field of 500 runners.
The course includes six staffed checkpoints. Each checkpoint supplies drinks and food options including cola, tailwind, water, sandwiches, salted potatoes, fruit and snacks, with vegetarian and vegan options. A medic, first responder or first aider will be available at every checkpoint. Checkpoint distances are approximate and may vary each year; checkpoint cut-off times are strictly enforced. Participants must check in at all checkpoints.
Entrants must be at least 20 years old and must have previously completed an organised marathon distance under race conditions. No pacers or support runners are permitted. Drop bags are not allowed and there is no facility to leave bags at the start or finish.
Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and is subject to random kit checks. Required items include a hardcopy map, waterproof coat with sealed seams, baseplate compass, whistle, long sleeved base layer, minimum 1 litre water capacity, charged mobile phone, survival blanket, primary and secondary lights, and the event GPS tracker provided by the organiser.
There is parking available at Coed-y-Brenin Visitor Centre for the event and parking at checkpoints is pay and display. Due to limited parking at some checkpoints, supporters are restricted from attending certain checkpoint locations. Entry fees are payable and no refunds are available, though transfers and deferrals may be permitted subject to conditions and fees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
