Ultra Wales 50

Ultra Wales 50 is a 51 mile trail and mountain race in Southern Snowdonia with approximately 2898m of ascent (to be confirmed). The event is scheduled for Saturday 19 June 2027 and is listed as the 8th edition. The venue is Coed-y-Brenin Visitor Centre near Dolgellau and the route includes Cadair Idris (893m), Dolgellau, the Barmouth estuary and Coed-y-Brenin forest.

The event is limited to 500 places and has an overall cut off of 20 hours. There are six checkpoints on course; each checkpoint provides refreshments, vegetarian and vegan options, and medical cover. Checkpoint cut off times are strictly enforced and participants must check in at every checkpoint to continue. Runners who pass a checkpoint before its cut off may stay for no more than 20 minutes after that cut off. No drop bags are permitted and there is no facility to leave a bag at the start or finish.

Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and will be checked. Required items include a hardcopy map (Harvey Maps XT40 or Ordnance Survey Explorer OL18 & OL23 or similar), waterproof coat with sealed seams (minimum 10,000mm), base plate compass, whistle, separate drybag with long sleeved base layer, minimum 1 litre water, charged mobile phone, survival foil blanket, primary headtorch, secondary light and the GB Race Tracker GPS device provided by the organisers.

Supporter and crew access is restricted at certain checkpoints, notably CP5 and CP6, and no pacers or unentered support runners are permitted. The entry fee is £139.
